Five Must-See Events this Spring in Charlotte

Charlotte is a vibrant North Carolina community with plenty to offer any visitor. No matter how long you plan to stay or why you’re visiting, there are some must-see happenings this spring. Charlotte has a rich history and vibrant social scene for visitors of any age, and this spring will feature a few events you won’t find elsewhere.

Charlotte Jazz Festival
The Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts will host the Charlotte Jazz Festival on April 22 and 23. Presented by the Blumental Performing Arts Group, this two-day event will feature two main stage shows performed by Jazz at Lincoln Center, directed by Wynton Marsalis. In addition to these impressive performances, there will be several other musical attractions for all jazz lovers.

Several local jazz acts and other national talent will make appearances at the festival, and attendees can check out workshops, instructional demonstrations for kids, and happy hours for the adults. Music lovers of all age levels will find something to love at the Charlotte Jazz Festival.

North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival
May 6 and 7 will feature local craft beers and live music just minutes outside Charlotte. Featuring eight live bands and loads of microbrews to sample, this will be a fantastic event for music fans and beer lovers alike. Your tasting ticket will grant you access to the show and a three-hour beer tasting session.

The festival will host several food vendors for the duration and a Friday Night Campground Jam for anyone who purchases a camping pass. The North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival will take place very close to the Rural Hill Campground and Nature Preserve. Anyone who enjoys the outdoors, camping, music, beer, and fun in the North Carolina countryside, should attend this festival!

4th Annual Beer Me Brewfest
This celebration of everything beer will take place April 2 in downtown Charlotte, and will have something for every kind of beer lover. The general admission ticket price includes a commemorative tasting glass, access to live entertainment, games, and four hours of beer tasting. VIP tickets will get you extra food and into Beer Me Brewfest a whole hour early!

All ticketholders will be able to vote on the best beers of the event, and you’ll be sampling a wide variety of offerings from microbrews and beer artisans from the Charlotte area. Any level of beer enthusiast will find something to enjoy at the Beer Me Brewfest, and the proceeds are going to benefit Habitat for Humanity in Charlotte. Help a great cause and sample some excellent local beers at the fest this April.

Charlotte Hornets
Basketball fans who are visiting Charlotte this spring may be able to catch the tail end of the Charlotte Hornets’ 2015-’16 NBA season. With several home games in March and three in April, basketball lovers can catch a game at Time Warner Cable Arena downtown.

The Hornets are celebrating their second season as a renewed team under the ownership of basketball legend Michael Jordan. An NBA game is a great way to enjoy a night on the town for sports fans and their families, and the Time Warner Cable Arena is conveniently located in the heart of Charlotte.

The Children’s Theater of Charlotte Presents: Journey to Oz
Parents of younger children looking for family-oriented fun in Charlotte may want to investigate the Charlotte Children’s Theater. From February 19 through March 6, it will be showcasing an experimental show based on the Wizard of Oz, which is sure to delight any family who makes it to a performance.

This is theater with a twist, and the actors will regularly choose audience members to come up on stage and act out the roles of the beloved characters from the L. Frank Baum stories. The Children’s Theater of Charlotte also offers pre- and post-show workshops and other engaging experiences that accompany certain performances. If you and your family are visiting the area, this is definitely something your kids won’t want to miss.
