The holidays are a hectic time for the majority of people due to hosting family members, endless parties with friends, and making sure you have the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Ringing in a new year is the perfect time to start fresh and form new habits. Here are some tips on how to mentally refresh after the craziness of the holiday season.

Set Your Priorities

Try to find a quiet time right before bed or as soon as you wake up in the morning to reflect on the last year and changes that you want to implement this year. Writing out the things you want to improve on will make it clear what your goals should be for this new time in your life. Remember to stay positive and realistic.

Set Goals

It’s okay to be realistic! One of the reasons it’s so easy to fall off the bandwagon is because we can be too hard on ourselves. Whether your goal is to spend more time outside with your kids, tackle the clutter in the garage, or cook more meals at home, small changes can make a big difference. Try writing these goals down in an agenda or on something you will see every day so it will be more difficult to forget.

Get Rid of Clutter

Outer order in the home indeed contributes to inner calm with yourself! If you know where everything is placed in your home, it will lead to less time running around frantically in the mornings looking for this or that. Once you have donated or gotten rid of things you don’t use, use labeled storage containers for everything else.

Include the Whole Family

Whatever your new year’s resolutions might be, it’s a great idea to include the whole family! Not only will you get a helping hand, but everyone will be held accountable for keeping the living room clean, going outside, or just being kind to one another. A great way to hold responsibility is to have a dry erase board, etc. in the kitchen so everyone can check off on their duties for everyone to see.

We wish you and your family a great 2020! Hopefully, these tips will help you feel as refreshed as ever going into this new year. Once your home is more organized, you can tackle your goals and make the most of your year.
