Prior to entering the real estate industry, Executive Vice President Tim Lobner served in the United States Navy aboard a nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine. While at sea, Tim was qualified as an Officer of the Deck and managed a 25-member team in the operation and navigation of a $1 billion nuclear submarine. As an officer, Tim also managed several other critical collateral responsibilities that ensured the ongoing safety of the submarine, its equipment and fellow crew members. Tim believes that the military does a great job of teaching and reinforcing the basic skill-sets that are important in any job within the civilian sector. Specifically, the Navy taught him how to manage his time efficiently, multitask and effectively communicate within a team environment. In his position at Invitation Homes, Tim relies on these same multitasking and leadership skills while managing the company’s national construction and maintenance operations.

Tim feels strongly about Invitation Homes’ veteran hiring efforts and has noted, "When we're looking to hire new team members, we're looking for people who have great leadership skills, great followership skills, and great multitasking capabilities. Those are exact skills that you learn while serving in the military. To date, we've rehabbed nearly 80,000 homes. Veterans have played a very important part in that."

As a U.S. Navy veteran, Tim knows what veterans offer to a company. In addition to multitasking skills, veterans have a healthy understanding of accountability and they bring a special “can do” attitude to their work each day.  Tim said, "We know that when a veteran is managing a rehab project, he or she is going to show up on time; they're going to hold contractors accountable; they're going to make tough decisions on the spot; they're going to keep the project going; and they're going to deliver homes on time and under budget."

Invitation Homes is committed to being the best in our industry and believes in hiring the best employees. Through its veteran hiring program — PCS: Invitation Homes — the company supports veterans by offering them unique employment opportunities. Invitation Homes believes that hiring veterans is not only right for America — it’s right for business. Veterans have proven themselves to be hard working, trustworthy, and motivated, and Invitation Homes wants to give them an opportunity to succeed.
