Invitation Homes Partners with the American Red Cross to Help Prevent Home Fires

As the nation’s premier single-family home leasing and management company, Invitation Homes is working to raise awareness about home fire safety and volunteering to help protect families and homes in communities where the company operates. The American Red Cross reports that home fires claim seven lives across the U.S. every day and that the presence of working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half. We are committed to doing our part to combat the tragic consequences of home fires and reduce that number even further.

We recently announced our partnership with the American Red Cross Sound the Alarm campaign. According to the Red Cross, the Sound the Alarm campaign has successfully installed more than 2.5 million free smoke alarms, made more than 1 million households safer across the country, and saved more than 2,100 lives. As a regional presenting sponsor of Sound the Alam, Invitation Homes will activate its associate volunteers to install free smoke alarms in homes, assist families in creating escape plans, and educate the public about home fire safety in markets across the country. Invitation Homes is also a National Red Cross Disaster Responder member and directly supports the Red Cross disaster relief fund, enabling the organization to prepare for, respond to, and recover from thousands of disasters across the United States.

The safety of our residents is always our top priority, and part of that is equipping all of our homes with smoke alarms. We remind our residents to check the smoke alarms in their homes and change the batteries if needed. We also encourage residents to create an escape plan to help all individuals residing in a home get to a safe place in the event of a home fire. It is important to practice a 2-minute fire drill at least twice a year and ensure everyone can identify two ways to escape from each room in a home.

Residents can submit a service request through the Invitation Homes app. Our maintenance professionals are available to visit homes and help residents feel safe and secure.
